Common cold : home remedies to fight with it !!

Common cold-nasal catarrh, also known simply as najla-jukam in ayurveda, is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract that primarily affects the nose or throat.
A common cold can be caused by various different types of viruses and its symptoms include headache, runny nose, cough, high fever, itchy eyes, sore throat, body aches etc. Although the condition is usually harmless and symptoms usually resolve within two weeks, Over-the-counter products and home remedies can help control symptoms.

♥   BATASHA & BLACK PEPPER :

Batasha’s also known as sugar drop candy can relish your taste buds, but who knows that are also great in keeping that cold at bay !! To get rid of cold and catarrh, all you need is :PicMonkey Collage

  1. Whole black pepper – 7 pieces
  2. Batasha – 7 pieces 
  3. Water 250 gm

     NOTE :

  • Put all the ingredients in a pan and keep it on gas.
  • If you have fever along with cold, Also Add 7 leaves of holy basil/tulsi to the brew.
  • Let them cook together while stirring them in between till the water reduces to 1/4.
  • Now strain it and cool a little bit.
  • Have it sip by sip, while it is hot.
  • Lie down and Rest for about 10 minutes with your head and body covered with a blanket.
  • Consume it twice a day, preferably in the morning while empty stomach and before bedtime.
  • Consume it for 2 days to get positive results.

 

♥  TULSI TEA :

Tulsi tea is an another  very effective remedy to fight common cold and its other symptoms that might includes headache, nasal catarrh, bronchitis, fever etc. To make this tea, all you need is :PicMonkey Collage

  1. Fresh tulsi leaves – 7-10  ⌈ OR  tulsi leaves powder – 1 gm
  2. Fresh ginger – 2 gm  ⌈ OR Ginger powder – 1/2 gm
  3. Whole Black pepper – 7 pieces  ⌈ OR some black pepper powder

       NOTE :

  • Take 200 gm of water in a pan.
  • Add all the above ingredients to it and boil it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now switch off the gas and rest it while covered with a lid for 2 minutes.
  • After 2 minutes, strain it and add 100 gm of hot milk and sugar to taste.
  • Have it sip by sip while it is hot.
  • Lie down and Rest for about 10 minutes with your head and body covered with a blanket.
  • Consume it twice a day for 2-3 days.
  • Give half quantity to kids.

♥  CAROM SEEDS PACKET FOR NASAL CONGESTION :ajmo7

As we already know, that common cold primarily effects our nose and might leads to nasal congestion and heavy head. To get rid of this :

  • Simply take 10 gm of carom seeds, put it in a small cloth and tie it from upside.
  • Now put this bundle on pan and heat it on very low gas.
  • Sniff this packet continuously for some time.
  • It will provide relief from nasal congestion and heavy head instantly.

 

♥  OTHER REMEDIES :

Milk and Turmeric :
Besides ginger tea or Tulsi tea, warm milk and turmeric mixture is an another popular and effective way to fight common cold.IMG_7009

  • Add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder to 250 gm of milk.
  • Bring it to boil and then simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add sugar and strain it.
  • Consume it for 2-3 days before bedtime.

 

Tulsi, Carom seeds and Rock salt :

  • Take 20 gm of dry tulsi leaves or powdertulsi
  • 20 gm of carom seeds and
  • 10 gm of rock salt
  • Mix everything together and blend it to form fine powder.
  • Consume 2 gm of this powder twice a day with luke warm water.

 

Dry dates or Chuara ki kheer :

  • Take 2 dry dates, deseed them and chop them into small pieces.
  • Now take about 500 gms of milk, add chopped dry dates and cook till the milk reduces to half.
  • Add sugar as per your need & Strain it.
  • at the dates followed by milk.
  • Consume it before bedtime.
  • It is also very effective in gaining weight if consumed daily but preferably consume it in winters only.
